You have a strong track record of high performance that exemplifies your strengths in developing and executing strategic plans as well as strong financial literacy and financial management. You offer an executive style and positive reputation that garners respect and credibility with external stakeholders and the committed team of volunteers that make up the board of directors. Your history displays your work with Boards and leading organizations that are recognized for their strong community relationships, fiscal strength and business acumen. You know the importance of both external growth and the internal health of any organization, and this is shown in your work history. Experience with other Chambers, in municipal or other public sector organizations, and strength in Finance and Marketing would be considered valuable assets.
The Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce offers a competitive compensation package featuring a wage range between $65,000 and $85,000 annually as well as comprehensive benefits.

The Role:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the senior staff position at the Chamber and is accountable to the Board of Directors. The CEO plays a significant role in the organization by providing leadership to achieve the mission and vision of the Chamber on a day-to-day basis. The CEO plays an important role in making sure the policies and directives of the Chamber are followed closely and executed effectively, leading the coordination and planning of new and existing initiatives, liaising with members, community organizations and municipal governments, and assisting Chamber committees. The primary expectation is that the Chief Executive Officer will maximize the use of available resources to achieve the goals and objectives laid out by the board of directors.
The Board will look to the CEO to come up with creative solutions and ideas for development, while simultaneously working to realize greater efficiency and effectiveness in operations. The CEO must build strong relationships with businesses and organizations in the community to maintain and grow the Chamber’s presence and seek out opportunities to better serve the business community. The Chief Executive Officer is ultimately responsible for the development of the long-term strategic goals of the Chamber and the accompanying budgets, while promoting and improving the efficiency of the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce operations through innovation, creativity, influence, and teambuilding.
The Person:
The successful candidate will demonstrate an executive style, respected reputation, and positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. The individual will possess excellent leadership skills, marketing abilities, have a financial management background and strong project management knowledge. This person will be an innovator who has the capacity to manage multiple priorities, develop key relationships with varied stakeholders, and find creative solutions for complex problems, all while being an outstanding ambassador for the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce. The ideal candidate would also have the following qualifications and experience:
- A degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Marketing
- 5-10 years experience in relevant business roles including leadership position(s)
- Excellent working knowledge of financial management, including accounting principles, budget management, and banking tools
- Strong abilities in the areas of Marketing and Communications
- Practical experience and knowledge of facilitation and advocacy; and Experience working under the direction of a Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement initiatives to advance the organization’s strategic plan as directed by the board
- Oversee day-to-day operations and administration of the Chamber.
- All aspects of staffing and performance management including hiring, training, and leading within board-approved guidelines.
- Be the primary advocate and liaison with elected officials, partners, stakeholders, and the public.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including members, board directors, other chambers, provincial and national chamber organizations, and municipal governments.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility of the Chamber. This includes but isn’t limited to compliance with all non-profit regulations. Activities include coordination with the Finance Committee to effectively manage budgets and cashflow, bookkeeping, audit functions, etcetera and reporting on the same.
- Create, plan, market and manage various chamber events ranging in complexity and attendance from 5-300 to meet Chamber objectives.
- Support the Board of Directors with Governance (including statutory compliance and Chamber Bylaws), Board Succession Planning, completion of Board of Director and Committee meeting agendas and minutes, and coordination of AGM.
- Manage the Chamber’s brand amongst businesses, within the community, and in the media. This includes but isn’t limited to social media, marketing materials, online presence, press releases, media interviews, etcetera.
- Ensuring profitability and growth of the Chamber through developing strategic partnerships, creating sponsorship opportunities, growing the member base, and identifying opportunities for grant funding.
- Positively representing the Chamber within the community by attending key events, supporting partner and member initiatives and sitting on various boards and committees.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
