S. C. Chamber of Commerce States Business is Optimistic About 2010 Economy
SWIFT CURRENT, February 22, 2010/ CHAMBERNewswire/ -- In an extensive survey of its Membership, the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce is excited to report that many of its members are optimistic about the regional and provincial economy.According to their 2010 Economic Baseline survey, 96 percent of members expect the regional economy to grow or stay the same. When it comes to the provincial economy, 94 percent of the those surveyed expect the economy to grow or stay the same.
"The Swift Current Chamber of Commerce is very excited about the results of our survey" says Jason Regier, Chair of the Swift Current Chamber, "The majority of our members had a good year last year and 66 percent are looking to grow their business in 2010 with 39 percent expecting to stay the same."
"Our members also expect labour numbers will improve, with 32 percent saying employee numbers will increase and 67 percent maintaining the same." Continues Regier, "some businesses still need to attract labour to this community in order to benefit from the regions anticipated growth."
Curtis Wiebe, in-coming Chair of the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce says, "At the Chamber we want to focus on doing our part with advocacy and planning to ensure that our members have what they need to maintain and grow their businesses. We have a responsibility to ensure that all of our members needs are addressed in order to continue growth."
The Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce is holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday March 3, 2010.
